Sainik School Ghorakhal celebrated its Diamond Jubilee Raising Day on Mar 21, 2026 with great enthusiasm and pride, marking the glorious legacy and tradition of the institution. The celebration witnessed the gracious presence of Hon’ble Lt Gen M K Katiyar, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM GOC-in- C Western Command, as the Chief Guest, who was accorded a warm reception by Gp Capt Madhu Sengar, the Principal.

The Guard of Honour was presented in the honour of the Chief Guest by the cadets, reflecting the discipline and military ethos of the school. Thereafter, the formal programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. The ‘Opening Address’ was delivered by the Principal to greet the honoured guest and all attendees. The Principal highlighted the achievements, values and contribution of the institution in shaping young cadets into responsible citizens and future leaders of the nation.

The Diamond Jubilee Raising Day celebration of Sainik School Ghorakhal was marked with pride and enthusiasm as Sri Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Raksha Mantri, addressed the gathering through a virtual message being unable to join in person due to inclement weather conditions.

In his address, Hon’ble Raksha Mantri extended his warm greetings to the cadets, staff and alumni on the momentous occasion of sixty years of the institution’s illustrious journey. He lauded the school for its outstanding contribution in nurturing disciplined, confident and patriotic youth who have gone on to serve the nation with distinction.

Emphasizing the vital role of Sainik Schools in nation-building, he encouraged cadets to imbibe values of integrity, courage and selfless service. He appreciated the dedication and commitment of the faculty in upholding the rich traditions and legacy of the institution. He also commended the achievement of girl cadets in various co-curricular activities. The virtual address added grandeur to the celebration, motivating cadets to strive for excellence and serve the nation with pride and honour.

The cultural segment of the programme added vibrancy to the celebration. The cadets presented a divine Ganesh Vandana, followed by a lively Kumaoni dance showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Uttarakhand. A thought-provoking skit showcasing ‘Six Decades of the Growth of Sainik School Ghorakhal’ performed by the cadets captivated the audience.

In a moment of immense pride and recognition, Cdr Archana Choudhary, the Vice Principal and Dr Shalini Misra, PGT English were awarded the prestigious GOC-in-C Commendation by the Chief Guest , Lt Gen M K Katiyar for their exemplary services.

As a mark of respect and gratitude, Hon’ble Lt Gen M K Katiyar, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM GOC-in-C Western Command and  Shri Shajan George P Verghese, Joint Secretary, Sainik Schools Society, were felicitated by the school authorities.

The Coffee Table Book was also officially released on the occasion. The Army Commander, Lt Gen M K Katiyar, an esteemed alumnus of Sainik School Ghorakhal then addressed the gathering and appreciated the staff and the cadets for their remarkable contribution to the society. He congratulated the entire Ghorakhal fraternity for excellent NDA entries.

The Chief Guest encouraged the cadets to pursue excellence with determination, integrity and a spirit of service to the nation. He also mentioned the significant contribution of OBAs in various fields. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, filling the atmosphere with patriotic fervour.

The Diamond Jubilee Raising Day celebration once again reaffirmed the commitment of Sainik School Ghorakhal to nurture discipline, leadership and patriotism among its cadets.
