The Inter-School Football Tournament hosted by Sainik School Ghorakhal concluded on May 27,2025 with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit in a thrilling finale that brought together young athletes from across the region. The final match, played amidst loud cheers and high energy, marked the successful culmination of a week-long display of skill, teamwork and discipline.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr Sanjeev Kumar Joshi, OIC , Defence Institute of Bio-Energy Research (DIBER), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) at Haldwani, Nainital. Mr Prateek Chandra Joshi, District Youth welfare and PRD Officer Nainital joined as Guest of Honour . In his address,the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of sports in shaping character and building leadership among youth, especially in institutions like Sainik School where discipline and resilience are part of everyday learning.He lauded the efforts of the school in hosting such a large-scale and well-organized tournament.
Sponsored by ONGC Dehradun and co-sponsored by District Youth Welfare and PRD Officer Nainital, the tournament witnessed participation from several reputed schools across the district. The final match between SSGK and Bhartiya Shaheed Sainik Vidyalaya, Nainital was a nail-biting contest that showcased excellent strategy, endurance, and spirit from both sides. SSGK secured a spectacular victory with 2-1 scoreline Cdt Ayush Kapkoti from SSGK was adjudged the Best Scorer and Cdt Priyanshu Adhikari from SSGK was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper The winning and runner up teams were felicitated with a trophy, medals, and certificates. Mr Hem Arya ,Mr GS Joshi and other dignitaries attended the event.
The Principal of Sainik School Ghorakhal, Gp Capt VS Dangwal, expressed gratitude to the guests, sponsors, and all participating teams for their contribution to the tournament’s success. He also acknowledged the support of faculty, staff, and Cadet volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
The event that was truly a celebration of sportsmanship and youth potential,concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks.
